An early bather Sun worship An unconcerned linnet A high flier

A thistle in the early morning sun. A willow warbler high in the trees along North Road.  I don't think this was washed up  A nearby wheatear A young kestrel looking for prey And my first sighting of a speckled wood in the garden
Image
More wheatears have been passing through over the past couple of days.  The horse and cart returning after trips round the town A brilliant ploy by Waveney, close a car park at the height of the summer

An adult wheatear was passing through this morning.

The Cetti was in fine form again.  The avocets were still in the model yacht pond but they had a brief period of circling around.  Female blackcap in nearby bush together with lots of blue tits, great tits and an indeterminate warbler (not a sedge).
Image
Heard a Cetti in the distance, a marsh harrier was be being mobbed by a crow and three avocets were feeding on the model yacht pond.  Unless something is done soon, there will be no regattas this summer.

A pair of banded snails in the morning sunlight. A surfer was enjoying the surf. Three kestrels were hovering overhead, this shot shows 2.

Green Woodpecker

Image
I managed to photograph a green woodpecker yesterday along North Road.  Although we have seen them and noted them in the Bird Project  http://www.southwold-northroad.com/page6.htm , we had no photographs.

Yesterday morning a couple of kestrels were hovering over the fields.  Some of the fields have been mown and the cattle moved, they seem to have been in the same field for ages. On the sand cliffs, a ruby tailed wasp, a very colourful little creature. In a nearby bush, a female reed bunting. A fox on the drying out lagoon.
